Ann Elise’s first priority in therapy is creating a safe, compassionate, and accepting environment for her clients. All too often, people struggling with their mental health are shamed and invalidated by those around them, including healthcare providers. Ann Elise pushes back against this by focusing heavily on making sure her clients feel seen, valued, and understood. Feeling truly heard can be a powerful, healing experience, and Ann Elise works hard to provide this to her clients.
Ann Elise’s therapies of choice include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). She’s a big believer in ethical therapeutic practice, which includes providing clients with the most effective, well-researched treatment possible. However, therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience. As such, Ann Elise loves collaborating with clients to make goal-oriented, personalized plans for their path through therapy. Ann Elise also deeply values social justice and is dedicated to creating a safe space for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, races, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds.
Therapy with Ann Elise will include learning about your brain; building an arsenal of skills; reconfiguring the way you respond to thoughts and emotions; and hopefully laughing a lot along the way. Above all else, Ann Elise wants to help her clients lead more fulfilling, values-focused lives.
