Group Therapy
Austin Anxiety and OCD Specialists offers several group therapy options for adults at our Austin, Westlake, and Round Rock offices. Our therapy groups are led by 1–2 therapists and each therapy group typically has 5–8 group members. Most of our therapy groups meet for one hour each week. Some of our clients attend individual therapy in addition to group therapy while others participate only in group therapy. While the thought of joining a group of strangers for therapy often feels intimidating initially, group therapy often provides some unique benefits that individual therapy doesn’t.

Group therapy provides an opportunity to connect and gain support from others who are experiencing similar thoughts, feels, and situations while also gaining wisdom from the diversity among individual group members. While peer support is a valuable aspect of group therapy, all of our therapy groups are led by therapists with specialized training in group therapy and offer benefits that span beyond peer support. Our group therapists teach group members evidence-based skills and strategies that specifically target their treatment goals.

Overcoming OCD
Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) is considered to be the gold standard of treatment for OCD. In this group, clients learn exposure skills to gradually decrease symptoms of OCD and unwanted behaviors. Together, Exposure and Response Prevention therapy and a supportive group environment form a powerful toolkit for adults, helping them to navigate the challenges of OCD with composure and resilience. By teaching practical skills to overcome OCD in a positive and supportive environment, this unique program cultivates well-being from the inside-out.
