Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Emily specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. Her primary clinical interests include treating anxiety, depression, OCD, foster care and adoption challenges, trauma, and various challenges within the family system including behavioral and attachment concerns. Emily focuses on enhancing clients’ capacity for self-compassion, value and boundary exploration, and in developing a strong toolkit to cope with challenges they may face while holding in mind the most important factor in therapeutic treatment which is the relationship developed between a client and therapist. Emily values vulnerability, emotional safety, and authenticity in a therapeutic space and will work diligently to foster a collaborative and comfortable relationship with each client.  

  • Emily’s approach to therapy primarily focuses on creating a safe and inviting space for her clients. Her approach is warm, compassionate, and playful, while balancing the importance of psychoeducation and clear communication. She believes individuals know themselves best and will work to empower clients to explore the unique experience of what it means to be them. 

    Emily believes that every person holds unique strengths, and her goal is to help clients identify and access those strengths while discovering new patterns for their life with courage and vulnerability.

    In working with clients, Emily utilizes evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), and enjoys using art and play in therapy. 

  • Emily received her bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and gained experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and struggling with mental health concerns, food insecurity, and substance use before pursuing her master’s. Emily graduated with her master’s degree in social work from University of Arkansas where she focused her graduate studies on childhood maltreatment, trauma work, adoption and foster care services, and art as therapy. Emily’s experience has included working in various settings such as foster care, hospice care, inpatient mental health care, art therapy private practice, and international school systems providing case management. 

    Emily has had training in trauma-focused CBT, collaborative assessment and management of suicidality (CAMS), exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP) and she is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). Emily also has training in art as therapy and play therapy. Emily is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Texas (104224) and in Arkansas (10132-M).

  • When Emily is not working, she enjoys spending time with her favorite people including her very cute dog, Willow. She loves to travel, make pottery, ride her bike, garden, camp and hike, and cook yummy meals. Emily is a coffee lover, a car singer, and recharges by driving to Big Bend National Park at least once a month.
